What’s so Funny About American Politics?
Here we go.
Another 23-year old man with little to no life experience giving his perspective on an extremely complex issue. I like to think I’m self-aware, but writing this might prove otherwise…
So, lets talk politics!
This past year, I mean what a year. I could get into the details, but I’d sound like a broken record. Anyways, what a presidential campaign we had.
We had sleepy Joe, “Will you shut up man”, and a variety of other iconic, or degrading moments throughout this race, but did we honestly expect anything less? You gotta hand it to Joe Biden, anyone who decided to go up against the marketing king with orange skin was going to have a tough year. I’m honestly not sure what President Trump did better during his time in office, merch sales or getting people pissed about anything and everything. I’ve never seen someone’s twitter replies look like his, and those hats can sell!
I don’t think anyone has ever sold more red hats than Donald Trump, love him or hate him he can sell just about anything. Personally, I think Ad Age has been kind of slacking. Why haven’t they done a multiple page exposé on the branding genius that man has? What other country has a super villain hat salesman running everything? I can think of other famous leaders who were known for their hats like Castro and… nevermind, not gonna go down that road.
Now, “Make America Great Again” has a negative connotation even though none of us should really disagree with it. It’s all incredibly perplexing, and I think I’m getting a headache writing about it.
I have to ask this, but what happens if President Trump just says he’s still the president? More importantly, who’s going to be the last person that agrees with him? At this rate, President Trump may never actually believe he lost the election, I mean he did win by A LOT, just check his twitter.
I read some Trump supporters are planning on having their own Inauguration for him. So what is he going to be leading after the ceremony? I don’t understand the end game here but I want to know all about it.
And before the voter fraud crowd gets mad at me, I am well aware that there is voter fraud I just don’t think they caught enough people.
One thing I didn’t like about the election was Joe Biden’s strategy of attacking Trump, I mean what a terrible idea. You don’t go after a guy who has made his career being the super villain. Don’t even get me started on the debates, I think my high school lunch table had more intelligent dialogue than that, and I sat with the baseball team. I think a particularly bi-partisan idea is this; you have to be nuts to run for president. Just look at our recent roster! We had a Grammy award winning artist, a reality TV star and Vermin Supreme.
If I learned anything from this past year its to learn to laugh. This election feels like a very long SNL skit that gets worse and worse and doesn’t end. I think there is a lot of people wondering when it will end. I thought by now we would have a clear answer, but instead I have to decide which virtual inauguration I’m going to attend.
